25 May VMP Case Study – Infographic Video
As companies all over the world transitioned to remote and hybrid working environments, the need emerged to find an alternative solution in presenting onboarding training and information. This is how the relationship between VMP and Gallagher Benefit Services began, as they were looking to create an infographic video for employee onboarding which highlighted the advantages of the company superannuation plan.
Why was an Infographic Video the Perfect Fit?
Infographic videos allow people to tell stories or explain a product or service with an animation style that reflects a brand and in a shorter format. You can say a lot in a two-minute script and an infographic fits well with the reduced attention span that online audiences have.
Our producer-in-charge, Damien Grealy, explained the process behind making the video to ensure it was a successful production. Damien highlighted the importance of clear communication and consistent feedback between the client, our team and himself, during the initial stages of production. This was to ensure that our graphic designer and animator had a firm grasp of what was expected and what was understood of them. Additionally, the initial communication between a client and VMP was crucial as to avoid project overspend due to unforeseen changes.
Upon receiving the voiceover script from the client, Damien proceeded to sketch out images that matched the voiceover. The images represented key elements within the script, as he wanted the audience to understand what was going on – even if they didn’t hear the voiceover. After the completion of this process, our graphic designer, Logan, created the assets and storyboards which were then presented to the client for feedback.
Once approval for production was given, it was time for our VMP animator to utilize a combination of motion graphics and 2D animation, ensuring the final product was both colourful and simple to understand. Before being delivered to the Gallagher Benefit team, our in-house post-production team incorporated sound effects, music, and the voiceover overlay to polish the video off. As one of Damien’s first animation projects as a Producer, he was thrilled with the final product and more importantly, the client was very pleased with how it turned out:

Animated infographics are an excellent feature to use, especially for explainer and onboarding videos. They are engaging, easy to follow and can create a more memorable experience.
